Memphis Fashion Week Auditions

Memphis Fashion Week has officially started its selection process. This past Saturday, Memphis Fashion Week held auditions at the Oak Court Mall, for this year’s fashion show. Opening Reception for New Exhibitions

Dixon Gallery and Gardens held an opening reception Saturday night for their new exhibitions. On display were, Augusta Savage : Renaissance Woman, Under Construction : Collage from the Mint Museum, and Lawrence Matthews : To Disappear Away. William Eggleston and Jennifer Steinkamp : At Home at the Dixon, and Kong Wee Pang : Who is that Artist?, opened this past weekend. To Disappear Away

Lawrence Matthews, an artist and musician in Memphis, had a reception for his showing of “To Disappear Away (Places Soon To Be No More),” at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. Matthews was accompanied by peers and friends who came to show support for his exhibition. Throughout the night, Matthews chatted with guests and offered insight to his thought process behind the images on display. View some moments from this night below, and check out the full set here


Art to Grow

Art to Grow is an outreach program at Dixon Gallery and Gardens. It introduces arts and nature to kids in libraries, schools, summer camps, and many other educational organizations. Art to Grow celebrated their 20th Anniversary January 4, in the new Farnsworth Educational Building. Lots of families came out to make art and eat cake with their little ones. Jingle Jam 2019 at the Landers Center

The Landers Center closed out the event year with Jingle Jam, presented by Q107.5. Performances were Why Don’t We, a boy band from Los Angeles California, Public the Band, from Cincinnati, Ohio, Asher Angel, a singer and Disney Channel actor from Phoenix, Arizona, AJ Mitchell, a singer from Belleville, Illinois, and Reagan Strange, a Memphis native, who gained stardom after appearing and later competing on NBC’s the voice.
